Xiaodai Dong

Xiaodai Dong is currently a Professor of with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Victoria. She was the Canada Research Chair (Tier II) from 2005 to 2015. Dr. Dong’s research interests include 5G, mmWave communications, radio propagation, Internet of Things, machine learning, localization, wireless security, e-health, smart grid, and nano-communications. She served as an Editor for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON COMMUNICATIONS from 2001 to 2007 and the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS from 2009 to 2014. She is currently an Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON VEHICULAR TECHNOLOGY.

Minh Tu Hoang

Minh Tu Hoang received the B.Sc. degree in electronics and telecommunication engineering from the Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam, in 2013. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in the University of Victoria, BC, Canada, in indoor localization and machine learning. From 2013 to 2016, he was a DSP Engineer with Viettel Research and Development Institute, Hanoi, Vietnam.

Charles Chang

Charles Chang received the B.A.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from Simon Fraser University, Canada, and is currently pursuing the M.Eng. degree at the University of Victoria, Canada. His research interests include machine learning and indoor localization.

Long Huang

Long Huang received the B.Eng. in Electronic and Information Engineering from Central China Normal University, China, and is currently pursuing the M.Eng. degree at the University of Victoria, Canada. His research interests include machine learning and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system.

Duncan Cairns

A fourth-year electrical engineering university student at the University of Victoria. Worked on capturing RSSI and location data with a robot with the goal of training the contract tracing algorithm. Completed an undergraduate thesis under Dr. Xiaodai Dong designing a low power and low-cost router to be used to collect RSSI data around the University from different devices. Working on updating and implementing the design for future use.

Jun Gao

Jun Gao received the B.Eng degree in electrical engineering from North China University of Technology, China in 2016, the M.A.Sc degree in electrical and computer engineering from University of Victoria, BC, Canada, in 2020. He is currently working at Fortinet as a software QA engineer. His research interests include network security, machine learning, and communication protocols.

Liao Zhang

Liao Zhang received the B.Eng degree in electrical engineering from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications , China in 2005, the M.Eng degree in electrical and computer engineering from University of Victoria, BC, Canada, in 2015. He is currently working at BC Ferries as a senior technical analyst (Linux/Unix/DevOps).

Geoffrey Harper

Geoffrey Harper is completing his Software Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Victoria. He is a co-author on the ‘Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Contact Tracing Without User Intervention’ paper, with his work specialising in MAC-Address de-randomising, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signal and massive dataset processing.

Tao Lu

Tao Lu has worked in industry with various companies including Nortel Networks, Kymata Canada, Peleton, etc., on optical communications. Before joining the University of Victoria, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Department of Applied Physics, California Institute of Technology, from 2006 to 2008. His research interests include optical microcavities and their applications to ultra narrow linewidth laser source, and bio and nano photonics. He is currently extending his research on machine learning algorithms with applications to spectral analysis, Internet of Things, and indoor localization.

Brosnan Yuen

Brosnan Yuen is currently pursuing his Ph.D in Electrical Engineering at the University of Victoria, Victoria, Canada. He is currently doing research in robotic systems, ECGs, optics, machine learning, and FPGAs.

Jason Xu

Jason Xu received the B.Sc in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University, Canada in 2019 and completed M.Eng degree in Eletrical and Computer Engineering from University of Victoria, Canada in 2021. His research interest is software development.

Luyun GAN

Luyun GAN received her Bachelor’s degree from the joint program of Economics, Management & Law in Nankai University. She received her Master of Applied Sciences degree from University of Victoria (advisor:Prof.Tao LU). She is currently a SDE working for Fortinet.

Kai Ren

Kai Ren received his B.Eng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Victoria, 2020. He is currently pursuing a M.A.sc degree in UBC, his research direction is safe and robust control and motion planning in uncertain, dynamic environments and address applications from autonomous driving to robotics control.

Guoliang Li

Guoliang Li is currently perusing his MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the university of Victoria, Victoria, Canada. He has some engineering experiences in cable modem terminal system and robotic system. His research interests include machine learning, blockchain technology and communication system.

Yifeng Bie

Yifeng Bie received the M.A.Sc. degree (2021) and is currently pursing the Ph.D degree in engineering with the University of Victoria, Victoria, BC, Canada.
